New Forms in Dyn 365 for Talent? Not yet

Posted on

Being involved more and more in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent community, I get the following question: Can we create custom forms in Talent and capture data in other ways than the provided forms?  This is a legitimate question, but the answer is NO, not yet.

It will take some time to mix all the AX and Dynamics CRM ingredients together. As you know, Dynamics 365 for Talent (or at least the majority of it) is the former Core HR module from Dynamics AX (aka Axapta, aka Dynamics 365 for Operations). and CDS 2.0 schema management and customizations are based on the Dynamics CRM customization module (now called PowerApps Customization). With the speed that Microsoft releases functionalities on CDS 2.0 and Talent, I would not be surprised if the forms customization will come in the Microsoft Q4 of FY19.

Until then, a possible workaround is creating applications with forms in PowerApps and then embedding these forms in Talent. We can create table in Talent (with CDS) and we can create PowerApps using these tables. So here you have the perfect friendship with benefits.

In a future post, I will show you how to create a PowerApp application and embedded in Talent. Until then, you can take a look at this article:
